If you are an Indian citizen and wish to study in UK, you need a UK student visa. Uk visa requirements are generally handled by UK visas and Immigration website that has all the necessary details on applying for the visa.
Though, the government has denied any visa changes with Britain’s exit from the European Union, still there is quite uncertainty with the procedures.
Types of UK student visa
All the students who are over 18 and are pursuing a short course, you will be issues a short term study visa that will be valid upto 6 months and can be extended upto 11 months( only for courses in English language).
If you’re studying a longer course, you’ll need to make sure your chosen institution holds a Tier 4 Sponsor License. You can either apply for a Tier 4 (Child) student visa (if you’re aged 4-17 and want to study at an independent school in the UK) or a Tier 4 (General) student visa for those aged 16 and over.
The UK Student Visa requirements
When you have been selected for a course, the course provider can help you acquire a visa and you need to check for this fact with them. You are only allowed to apply for the visa 3 months in advance.
You will be allotted the UK visa based on point system. You will be needing the following for applying for a UK study visa:-
- Your passport details
- An unconditional offer of a place on a course offered by a licensed Tier 4 Sponsor, evidenced by a ‘Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies’ (CAS) form from your course provider (worth 30 points)
- Proof of adequate English language skills, demonstrated by passing one of the Secure English Language Tests (SELT).
- Proof you have financial support throughout your stay in the UK (worth 10 points)
You are allowed to present bank statements as a proof that you can afford your living expenses as well as your course fees for the duration of your stay. You might need to show your academic qualifications, medical check up results during your visa interview. You will also be charged visa fees according to your Country.
